Australian and Queensland Government representatives joined Queensland Beef Corridors (QBC) members on the Clermont-Alpha Road recently to celebrate a significant milestone for the Central Queensland Beef Roads Program, the completion of its first project. Delivered by Barcaldine Regional Council, the Clermont-Alpha Road (West) early works project demonstrates the value of collaborative investment in strategic freight routes and represents the first of a broader program of works across the QBC network.
The project included approximately three kilometres of road improvements and pavement sealing, helping to improve safety, reliability and freight efficiency for producers and transport operators along this important regional freight route.
The event was attended by Senator Anthony Chisholm, Colin Boyce MP, and Sean Dillon MP, along with representatives from QBC member councils, providing an opportunity to recognise the program’s achievements and the importance of continued investment in regional freight infrastructure.
A strong and consistent message throughout the event was the value of collaboration. Speakers emphasised what can be achieved when the seven united Queensland Beef Corridors councils work together with the Queensland and Australian Governments to deliver infrastructure outcomes that benefit both industry and communities.
It was particularly encouraging to hear the positive recognition of the QBC partnership and its shared commitment to delivering safer and more reliable roads for the beef industry and Central Queensland. This message was reinforced by both State and Federal representatives, who acknowledged the strength of the partnership and the long-term benefits the program is expected to deliver across the region.
The completion of the Clermont-Alpha Road (West) project is an important milestone, but it also marks the beginning of a broader program of works that will continue to strengthen freight connectivity, improve road safety and build resilience across one of Australia’s most significant beef-producing regions.
This milestone was continued in Clermont, where QBC members were joined by industry and regional stakeholders for a networking event. It provided a valuable opportunity to bring stakeholders along the QBC journey, celebrate the progress achieved so far and continue strengthening the partnerships and industry connections that are central to the initiative’s success.
