Central Queensland Beef Roads Investment Strategy Announcement
The QBC has welcomed Minister King and Minister Mickelberg joint announcement of the Central Queensland Beef Roads Investment Strategy (CQBRIS).

The Investment Strategy marks a significant step forward towards the strengthening and sealing of the road network that underpins the Central Queensland’s beef industry. Early works totalling $47.5 million have already commenced on four key freight routes, including upgrades to the Clermont–Alpha Road, Alpha–Tambo Road, sections of the Fitzroy Developmental Road, and May Downs Road. The early works package forms part of the Central Queensland Beef Roads Investment Strategy (CQBRIS), which has been developed in partnership with seven regional councils forming the Queensland Beef Corridors (QBC) group.
Mayor of the Isaac Regional Council Kelly Vea Vea said the Central Queensland Beef Roads Investment Strategy is a culmination of many years of local government advocacy and collaboration across each tier of government.
“The investment and works set out over the next 10 years are a great step towards making Central Queensland’s regional roads safer and more reliable for our communities and shows what local councils can achieve when we work together.” Mayor Vea Vea said.
This investment is a great step towards making Central Queensland’s regional roads safer and more reliable. It benefits the community and industries that rely heavily on safe, reliable and efficient transport links.
The CQBRIS will progressively upgrade and seal nine priority beef corridors, improving accessibility, reducing travel times, supporting economic growth across Central Queensland. Council acknowledges the strong collaboration between the Australian Government, Queensland Government, and regional stakeholders in bringing this strategy to life.
